Off we go into the wild, blue yonder!

Did you see the Air Force Thunderbirds perform at the Air Force Academy Graduation? I just got finished watching them from my back deck and it was amazing! Although you could see them with the naked eye, my binoculars helped.
The Thunderbirds were formed at Luke Air Force base in Arizona in 1953. They were named for the Native American legend of the Thunderbird which was greatly feared and respected. According to lore "when it took to the skies, the earth trembled from the thunder of it's great wings. From it's eyes shot bolts of lightning. Nothing in nature could challenge the bird of thunder and no man could stand against it's might"!
Watching the Thunderbirds perform you can't help feeling proud to be an American as we once again give thanks to all of of military personnel, past and present, for their service to our country!

What Do I Know?

As many of you know, I am not a particularly bright guy. But, for some reason many of you call the feline, write to me or send e-mails asking all kinds of strange questions. Here in my blog I will attempt to answer some of your queries. So here we go!

Dear DJ: I plan to attend Territory Days this weekend. Last year I spent an entire day just driving around looking for a parking space. Do you know any secret places where I can park?
Signed: Eddie in Security.

Dear Eddie: I do, but it's a secret. Actually your best bet is to park at Coronado High School up on the Mesa. They run shuttle buses to Old Colorado City. Another idea is to paint your car to resemble a city police cruiser. Then you can park anywhere!

Dear DJ: I heard a song on Cat Country called "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk". Exactly what is a "badonkadonk" and where can I get one? Do they sell them at Walmart?

Dear Rose: We are all born with our very own badonkadonk, although some are more shapely or attractive than others. You might want to consult a plastic surgeon. I'm not sure if Walmart sells them, although they might as they seem to sell everything else. Try the lingerie department.

Dear DJ: I heard that Garth Brooks is from Yukon, Oklahoma. I thought Yukon was in Alaska and does Garth own any sled dogs?

Dear Pete: Garth is from Yukon, Oklahoma. He tried living in Alaska once, but the cold air made his guitar strings too brittle. As far as sled dogs, he does not own any, but he does have three gerbils who have been trained to iron all of Trisha Yearwood's costumes.

Get Your Sox On!

It's Friday and tonight I will be broadcattin' live from Security Service Field from 5 to 6PM just prior to the Sky Sox game against the Iowa Cubs (AAA affiliate of the Chicago Cubs). If you've never been to a Sky Sox game, you're really missing some top notch, affordable family entertainment! First of all it's real action packed professional baseball! There's lots going on to keep the kids entertained like the high energy mascot "Sox the Fox". While tickets at Yankee Stadium in New York are selling for as high as $2,500 a game (I'm not kidding), Sky Sox tickets start at just 5 bucks!!! Tonight is girl Scout night and the evening concludes with a huge fireworks show! Stop by and say hi, I'd love to meet you!

Don't Forget To Go To Church On Saturday!

As most of you know, rising country star Eric Church will be in concert Saturday night at Cowboys downtown. Eric puts on a rockin' show and Cowboys is an electric club! If you've never been to Cowboys, you're really missing something! Last Saturday night I was there hanging out with Cat Country's Bryan Waters. Cowboys is spacious, clean and fun. Despite being packed there was plenty of staff on hand so you didn't have to wait long to be served. There are lots of pool tables on the upper level along with a special room just for Karaoke and a covered outdoor smoking area where you can look out onto the street below. On the lower main level you'll find a large dance floor, killer light and sound systems and a DJ booth that's shaped like a giant whiskey barrel! If you can't make it to the Eric Church show then come out another night. Cat Country hosts a regular party there on Saturday nights with Bryan featuring 95 cent drink specials!
This weekend I'll be on the air on Saturday from 10AM to 3PM as well as Saturday night 7PM to midnight and Sunday Noon to 3.

What a Night!

Recently I had the good fortune to be invited to perform at Richard and Stephanie's 25th anniversary party! They are both ardent Cat Country Listeners and we all had a "pawesome" time. Many of the guests were Cat Country fans including Annette from Security, Dave and Diane from Manitou and Josh, Lynette, Terry, Michelle and Lucas from the Springs! The dance floor was packed for the Big and Rich song "Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy" and Trace Adkins "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk". Riley from Denver went nuts when I played Montgomery Gentry's "There's One In Every Crowd" (and yes Riley was the one in this crowd). Stephanie's song for Richard was Anne Murray's classic "Could I Have This Dance For The Rest Of My Life" while Richard drew a big laugh from the crowd when he chose "I'm Gonna' Marry For Money" for Stephanie's song. Stephanie was very good natured about it, but I'm guessing Richard payed for this later! Everyone had a great time. Thanks Stephanie and Richard for letting me crash your party!
